About Beeslack
Beeslack Community High School is in the beautiful grounds of a spacious 17.5 acre site, formerly part of the estate of Beeslack House. It is a highly attractive setting with extensive parkland and playing fields close to the school.
Our grounds, modern purpose-built building and excellent resources are tremendous assets and we remind pupils how privileged we all are to work in such surroundings.
The school opened in August 1984 and is a full six year, non-denominational, comprehensive school for boys and girls. We work very closely with our four associated primary schools of Strathesk, Glencorse, Mauricewood and Roslin. Most of our pupils come from these schools but each year we continue to welcome a considerable number of pupils from other primary schools, both within and beyond Midlothian.
Beeslack became a “designated” community school in August 1994. We have of course been a school which worked closely with its community ever since we opened. The school is an excellent resource and focus for the community and our programme and resources have continued to develop in response to a wide range of community interests and needs.
Our pupils, of course, benefit directly from the extensive extra curricular programme that we are able to provide. There is no question of the positive impact of these activities on the emotional life of the school and on the personal and social development of our youngsters.
